Which house survey should you discuss?
Use the property’s age, construction, condition and alterations—not simply the lowest fee—to choose a sensible starting point.
Answer all four questions to see a planning result.
How the selector works
The result follows the broad suitability descriptions published by RICS. Level 1 is for conventional homes in good condition; Level 2 adds repair and maintenance advice for conventional homes in reasonable condition; Level 3 is the most detailed option for older, altered, unusual or run-down properties and major works.
Confirm the recommendation
No short questionnaire can see the building. Send the surveyor the listing, age, construction details, known alterations and your concerns. Ask them to explain the proposed level and inspection limits before you instruct them.
